A promising golfer has lost the sight in one eye after a freak accident on the course.
Jeffrey Guan, 20, suffered a broken eye and cheek bone after being hit by a golf ball last month.
The Australian young player suffered a facial injury during a tournament in Batemans Bay, New South Wales.
Guoan’s coach Paul Davis revealed that the ball came from another player’s errant tee shot.
He was taken to a local hospital before being airlifted to see an eye specialist in Canberra.
Guan had surgery a day later, recalling: “Immediately the bell started ringing and the pain reached my head and I fell to the ground.
“That night I had my first surgery. I was in excruciating pain.
“I was worried about my future.”

Doctors have ordered the world number 1055 not to swing a golf club for at least six months.

He added, “During the nights in hospital I was almost consumed with thoughts about the injury and my future in the sport.
“Not only was I completely distraught by the news I received, but the entire situation made me very sad and somewhat angry.
“These four weeks have been the hardest of my life.
“But I am mentally strong and will be ready to overcome any obstacle in the future.
“I’ll be back.”
