An angry Rory McIlroy was jeered by fans after he threw his club into the nearby water after a poor tee shot.
The 35-year-old Northern Irishman was competing in the BMW Championship in Denver, Colorado.

McIlroy struggled to find his best form, finishing tied for 16th on day two, 10 shots behind leader Adam Scott.
On the 17th hole, the four-time major champion erred on a drive – causing the ball to travel well off the grass.
Reacting to his poor shot, McIlroy threw his club in disgust – but it went a few yards and landed in the water.
The 35-year-old embarrassedly pulled the driver out and handed it to his caddie, who promptly dabbed it with a towel.
And fans have poured more grief on the golfing legend as they reacted to his blunder on X.
One wrote: “He can’t even do that properly…Rory’s golf has been terrible the last two weeks.”
Another said: “No conviction behind that throw. Pathetic performance.”
A third replied: “He had to walk embarrassingly to get his stick out of the water 😂!!”

Some of McIlroy’s frustration may have stemmed from the 16th hole, where he bogeyed the par-3, dropping his score to 1-under for the round.
It has been an up-and-down season for McIlroy, who finished tied for 68th at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
He failed to make the cut following his poor showing at The Open last month.
And, best of all, he came terrifyingly close to ending his 10-year wait for a major title at the U.S. Open in June.
He made three bogeys with five holes remaining to lose his two-shot lead over American Bryson DeChambeau.
He finished fifth at the Paris Olympics.
In June, McIlroy filed for divorce from his wife, Erica Stoll, after seven years of marriage.

He began dating Erika in 2015, a year after his split from tennis star Caroline Wozniacki.
The couple got married two years later and welcomed a daughter in 2020.

However, they split after he became a big name – with McIlroy claiming the split was “amicable”.

However, Rory reportedly dumped Caroline in a three-minute phone call – just months before their wedding.

Markle later wrote highly of McIlroy on her blog.
But nothing came of it and McIlroy soon fell in love with Erica – who he met in bizarre circumstances after falling asleep despite his alarm going off at the 2012 Ryder Cup.
Erica, who works on the tour, saved McIlroy from embarrassment as she helped him get to his tee time with a police escort.
The incident marked the beginning of a deep friendship between the two, which turned into a romantic relationship four years later.
