A BOXER has tragically died of natural causes after his first professional fight – as his heartbroken family and friends finally say their final farewell to him.
Middleweight debutant Sherif Lawal was knocked unconscious after being hit on the temple by Portuguese opponent Malam Varela.
Seeing the seriousness of his condition the referee at the Harrow Leisure Centre in London immediately started the knockout count before calling time.

Medics tried to save Sheriff, 29, from Islington, on the canvas and at a nearby hospital but he was pronounced dead after the fight on May 12.
But Haringey Borough Council confirmed to The Sun that no inquest would be held as it was “found to be a natural death”.
The lengthy autopsy process forced more than 200 loved ones to wait until last Wednesday for the funeral, where his boxing gloves were placed on his coffin.
Sheriff’s three sisters read a tribute written by his mother Misitua Bisi Lawal, describing him as a “pillar of strength and inspiration”.
She told how the trainee mental health nurse, who fights at St Pancras Amateur Boxing Club, got into the sport at the age of 17 after being stabbed.
Coach CJ Hussain described him as a “role model” and an “exceptional kid with a great smile”.
