Two amateur golfers achieved the 17 million-to-one feat by making two consecutive holes-in-one.

Steve Wilmhurst, 58, and Liam Nairn, 70, were playing as part of a group of four at Studley Wood Golf Club in Oxfordshire on Monday.

And this miraculous feat happened on the 16th hole, a 167-yard par-three.

Nairn stepped up and holed his tee shot to make it his first hole-in-one.

while talking to BBC“I was very happy because it was a very rare thing for something like that to happen to me, so I was very happy,” he said.

“I said to myself: ‘I have a hole in one of my arms – unbelievable’.

“We were all jumping for joy and giving each other high-fives, so it was a really happy occasion.”

Then it was the turn of Wilmhurst, who had hit a hole-in-one two decades earlier.

Amazingly, he imitated Nairn to make two consecutive holes-in for amateur friends.

However, it was not until he reached the hole that he realised Wilmhurst had missed his shot.

Wilmhurst said: “We all saw Liam’s ball go towards the green, then into the hole.

“The ball hit the pin on the way in, so we heard the ball go in as well, and then about 30 seconds later I took the shot and it disappeared, so I walked towards the green thinking ‘I missed it’ and I put the ball in the bunker.

“When Liam went to get his ball out of the hole, I couldn’t believe him when he said: ‘Oh, your ball is here too.’ I thought he was joking. I had to check it wasn’t April 1.”

According to the National Hole-in-One Registry, the odds of two players achieving a hole-in-one on the same hole are one in 17 million.

The odds of a player winning a hole in one are 12,000.

Wilmhurst and Nairn bought drinks for everyone in the clubhouse following their incredible achievement.

He also signed the club’s “Hole in One” booklet.

“To be honest, we play three or four times a week, so the more we play the less likely it is,” Wilmshurst joked.
