Frank Warren has shot down rumours that Daniel Dubois’ camp is in trouble, blaming the flu.

Respected trainer Don Charles and Class I sophomore Ian Duberry were absent from the glitzy media event ahead of the 34-year-old’s heavyweight world title fight with Anthony Joshua.

Rumours circulated on social media on Wednesday night that Coach Charles had sensationally parted ways with the heavyweight fighter.

But Dynamite Dan’s promoter clears up the confusion and reveals that the Pug Gym team is suffering from a severe case of the flu and they are wisely protecting their star pupil.

AJ’s trainer Ben Davidson also stayed out of the spotlight during the grand arrival and media workout.

But the Harlow trainer has been seen keeping a low profile on the perimeter, which he prefers.

Charles — who worked wonders in the corner for Dubois in his previous two wins over Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic — hasn’t been seen at all.

In a dummy training session for the cameras on Wednesday, AJ shadow boxed with unknown children from his beloved Finchley ABC.

But Dubois put in a lot of sweat in a good pads session with assistant coach Kieran Farrell.

If Charles – who rose to fame as Dereck Chisora’s early trainer – shows up to Thursday’s press conference smelling of vapour rub, Dubois fans may feel more confident their man can pull off an upset.

But if Dubois goes it alone again – he’s already been kicked out of the Peacock Gym and Shane McGuigan’s stables – it will make AJ’s job of becoming a three-time world champion even easier.

When SunSport visited the Pug gym earlier this month and witnessed some great final sparring, Dubois was full of praise for his new Borehamwood set-up.

But he made it clear that his father is still the driving force in his career — but also divisive for many.

He told us: “My dad gives me extra encouragement. We are a partnership and a team, he knows which words reach me and help me.

“When I look in my corner and he’s there, I get a shock.

“That motivates me to fight even harder, he motivates me to fight to win, he motivates me to give it my all.”
