ANTHONY JOSHUA is one win away from potentially landing the half-billion pound Tyson Fury two-fight mega deal.
The 34-year-old Olympic veteran from Watford’s win over Daniel Dubois at a packed Wembley tonight with 96,000 spectators will make him the most talked-about figure in boxing.
And — unless Fury is injured by a violent knockout in his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk on December 21 — the wheels are already in motion At the end This is a fight everyone in England wants to see.
Our AJ may be dreaming of revenge against the 37-year-old Ukrainian veteran, who dominated him twice and stripped him of his WBA, IBF and WBO belts.
And a win over the 27-year-old Dubois – with young trainer Ben Davison at the helm – will boost his confidence to seek revenge.
But apart from Team AJ and cheerleader Eddie Hearn – there’s not much hullabaloo to see a Joshua vs. Usyk 3 fight – especially when the best he can do is pull the score back to 2-1 against a man who’s in his 40s and has four kids at home to worry about.
Despite AJ’s incredible success and decency – the legacy of London 2012, his single-handed revolution in British boxing, and saving hundreds of local gyms with personal donations in lockdown when the government had left the sport to die – it is a stain on his record that he never faced the pinnacle and undefeated Fury or Deontay Wilder.
He has been a golden hen and a cash cow in a sport that is generally regarded as a sort of pig yard – his status as a British sporting legend is established for eternity.
But in the US, which will become the Mecca of boxing once the Saudis get bored or they achieve their goals by funding the fights, he is seen as a waste.
A violent knockout loss in his only trip to the Big Apple has left him with a bittersweet experience there, and a rematch over Usyk won’t help his reputation outside of his die-hard fans.

Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois: Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the huge world title fight at Wembley
But a fight with Fury — which would likely involve two bouts, with the first in Riyadh and the second in England — could also attract some of his remaining critics and doubters.
The greats of past eras – whom AJ studies and admires – all faced their best opponents, some of whom – like George Foreman and Larry Holmes – were even generations apart.
But if he ends his record up there with the Gypsy King and Wilder, people will have a right to resent his name being on a list of the greats.
But Fury’s two great fights – each of which is likely to generate around 2 million pay-per-view sales at £30 per viewer – and one of which is likely to sell out a 100,000-seater UK stadium at an average ticket price of £500 – would be a spectacle on a par with the Fight of the Century, the Thrilla in Manila and the Rumble in the Jungle.
The world would stop to watch the preparations for this war – not to mention the fighting itself.

Imagine the antics John Fury would pull, what Team Fury’s Brady Bunch brothers and friends would say to A.J. and his boardroom brotherhood.
Great old stories will be brought out.
There was a fight in Finchley in 2010 where rising professional Fury offered his Rolex watch to anyone who could knock him out, and the reformed rookie bricklayer’s uppercut nearly knocked him out.
There was supposed to be a fight twice, but the fight was lost because of money and ego.

There was the bizarre time they ran into each other in Marbella and – for all his tirades and taunts – Fury was polite to his literal victim.
We will definitely remember those hilarious moments when Fury made an unannounced video call to Joshua and harassed him.
Carl Froch will support Fury and say Joshua sucks, John Fury will offer to fight Froch.
Wladimir Klitschko will return to the arena and support Joshua.
It will be spectacular, hilarious, historical, humorous, tense, dark, and drenched in Saudi Arabia’s dark money.
And every man, woman, child, dog and duck would love to go there – those modern people who think the Oasis was never that good – can pretend they don’t care.

But PPV sales and ticket revenues and sponsorship deals and broadcast offers won’t increase.
A Joshua vs Fury fight in the spring of 2025 would kick off one of the dirtiest and richest fights of the modern era – AJ just needs to survive Dynamite Dan to light the fuse.
