A boxer has been declared brain dead and put on life support after he collapsed during a fight.
Karan Pipaliya, 19, is given medical assistance during the Gujarat State Boxing Championships in India.
The teenage wrestler was competing against Harshvardhan Rathore in the men’s 63.5kg category.
However, the bout was stopped at the end of the third round due to Pipaliya’s deteriorating condition.
Local reports claim that Pipaliya suffered a brain hemorrhage after falling unconscious and later underwent surgery at a private hospital.
It is believed that he was then shifted to SIMS Hospital where he was declared brain dead upon arrival.
Since Pipaliya is on life support, his father Bharat has criticised the lack of an ambulance at the event.

he told times of India“There were around 150 participants at the event, but there were not enough ambulances,” he said.
“I learnt that my son was taken to the hospital in a private car as there was only one ambulance.
“If an ambulance had been available my son could have received prompt treatment and been saved.”
He said, “I request the organisers to make arrangements for adequate ambulances to ensure that such an incident does not happen again.”
“My lamp has been extinguished, this should not happen to anyone else’s son.”
Meanwhile, his mother Rita also expressed grief over the delay in taking her son to the hospital.
“He sustained injuries at 2.30 pm but was taken to hospital at 4 pm,” he said.
Rita also said, “The hospital took a lot of time to complete the formalities for treatment in Mehsana.”

“If I had been able to reach Mehsana quickly by plane, my son would have been talking to me now.”
