Carl Froch claims an immediate rematch with Daniel Dubois would mark the end of Anthony Joshua’s career.
The 47-year-old former super-middleweight champion saw Joshua defeated by Dubois in a brutal fifth-round knockout at Wembley Stadium last Saturday.

Since his defeat, the defiant AJ has revealed that he will not be retiring.
He then met with promoter Eddie Hearn and Saudi Arabian boxing supremo Turki Alsheikh to discuss his future.
Hearn, 45, revealed that Joshua is ready to face Dubois again, with Alalshikh looking forward to the fight.
However, Froch believes this would be a bad move for Joshua’s future prospects.

“I think Eddie Hearn is keen to get him straight back in there, because obviously Anthony Joshua is Eddie’s big cash cow, let’s be honest.
“If AJ can improve on that run he’ll get back in the driving seat. But for me, I think it’s a bad fight.
“Immediate rematch, Daniel Dubois is licking his lips, saying ‘I wasn’t happy with my performance, I think I could have finished Anthony Joshua earlier’.

“And he would come back confident. The first fight he went into, he wasn’t sure if he was going to be there or not.
“He became the IBF champion after beating (Filip) Hrgovic, so is he world class?
“Now he knows he’s world class, he knows what he can do with it when he hits the clip on Anthony Joshua’s chin.
“An immediate rematch, to me, is the end of Anthony Joshua’s career, and I don’t think that should happen.”
Asked what he would advise Joshua to do, Froch said: “Then you have to look down the ladder and see who is next.
“You have (Martin) Bakole, you have Zilei Zhang, the big puncher – you have Joseph Parker who is on the crest of a wave after the Deontay Wilder win.
“They’re three fights in there, those opponents would really be going up against Anthony Joshua – and if he loses to one of them it’s definitely the end of him – even more so than if he got defeated by Dubois again Is.”
Froch then mentioned Dillian Whyte as another possibility, before presenting a different option entirely.
“Maybe the smart move is to sit back and wait, not fight, see how the landscape changes, see what happens with Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.”

Froch claimed that if the Gypsy King loses to Usyk again in a rematch on December 21, he could be Joshua’s opponent.
He added that the bout would certainly provide another big Wembley payday, before AJ could “ride off into the sunset”.

Anthony Joshua bravely picked himself up off the floor against Daniel Dubois – until he couldn’t anymore.
AJ was knocked down four times in five rounds by Dubois, before a powerful counter right closed the show in dramatic fashion.

As Joshua bounces, struggling to deal with a piston-like left, Dubois lands a quick jab.
Huge right hand from Dubois has AJ staggering backwards and his hands are down well past the opening bell.

Joshua – saved only by the bell after falling to the floor – struggles to move forward as he takes shots to the face.

Joshua is trying to get back into the fight but his jab seems very slow – he doesn’t seem to have recovered from the loss.

AJ comes out with more intent but swings wildly with a right and only connects in the air.
Dubois applies the pressure and scores another knockdown by whipping Joshua into the corner.
The bell rings but Dubois lands a bar or two – again AJ is saved by the clock as the writing looks on the wall.

Disaster struck again as Joshua hit the floor once again – he lost his balance as soon as he touched the canvas.
The referee gives AJ another chance to fight and Dubois lands a bottom blow – giving the challenger some valuable relief.
As round four ended, Dubois slowed down and Joshua showed sensational resilience to hang in there.

Joshua lands a big right hand and buckles Dubois’ legs – a surprise upset looks likely.
AJ pins Dubois on the ropes and attempts one of his signature uppercuts but the countering right hand gets there first.
