Scotland is the home of golf – and also the ancestral seat of Donald Trump’s mother Mary Anne.
So perhaps it was inevitable that former US President Jack Nicklaus said “to do.” Love he likes golf even more Wealth“—it was going to be made the central part of a golf empire that spanned nineteen golf resorts globally.
We told you how a fifth course in two of their Scottish developments is currently in production.
It will be located in its current location trump Builders started work on the international resort at Menie, about 10 miles north of Aberdeen, last year.
This will be the second 18-hole project located next Trump’s original course was built in 2012 and named the McLeod Course.
It is an homage to the maiden name of Trump’s late mother, Mary Anne, who was born in Scotland before moving to New York.
It will feature the world’s largest natural bunker, hilly sand dunes and endless greenery embracing a coastal dune ridge – all located next to the existing Championship Links course.
But there are already waves of unrest, with the Scottish Greens MSP for the North East region criticizing it: “A vanity project, absolutely!
“The approval of this course took no account of the services that people really need, what they really want, or the beautiful natural environment in the Shire.”
Plans for the resort initially included a 450-bedroom hotel – but accommodation is currently limited to just 21 rooms and a lodge.
This contains echoes of the political controversy surrounding the opening of the Trump International Resort in 2012.
However the northern part of the course includes part of a Site of Special Scientific Interest – one of the Britainis the best example of mobile Sand dune system – planning permission was granted by the Scottish Government because it was felt that the promise of spending $1 billion outweighed environmental concerns.
But project director Neil Hobday told BBC He and the rest of Scotland were ‘betrayed’ by this in March.
Hobday said: “He was willing fight Fight the environment and create the perception that this was a $1 billion project and something Scotland desperately needed. But I think he never really had the money or the intention to make it happen.”
He added, “I feel very appalled and embarrassed that I fell into its trap and that Scotland fell into its trap. We all fell into its trap. He was never going to do that.”

There was clearly no love lost between Trump and Nicola Sturgeon, with him saying the people of Scotland would be “much better off” without Ms Sturgeon at the top Work After he comes out.
“Good riddance to Scotland’s failed woke extremist Nicola Sturgeon!”. he said in a statement.
Then there are the controversies over Trump Turnberry, which has two 18-hole courses and one 9-hole course.
The famous 7,489 yard, par-71 Alsace course needs little introduction – although we recently told you how planners have given the go-ahead for work to begin on the seventh and eighth holes.
Since 2017, there is also the King Robert the Bruce Course, which comes in at 7,203 yards and a par 72.
Proud to have been the venue for the Open four times – including the 1977 Duel in the Sun – Turnberry is no longer on the schedule. open Championships and two years ago the R&A immediately rejected Trump’s claims that they wanted it back any time soon.

“We will not return until we are confident that the focus will be on the championship, the players and the course, and we are not confident that this can be achieved under the current circumstances.”
