Caroline Jackson is the mother of professional boxer Connor Benn and wife of former two-weight world champion Nigel Benn.
Although she keeps a relatively low public profile, her role in the Ben family has been important.
meeting nigel ben
Caroline met Nigel Benn at her 21st birthday party at the Stringfellows nightclub in London.
Despite Nigel’s fame and those around him, Caroline emerged as one of the few people who stood against him.
This strength of character attracted Nigel’s attention and led to their relationship.
But the early years of Caroline and Nigel’s relationship were not without difficulties.
proposal and marriage
After a period of reflection and development, Nigel proposed to Caroline in the boxing ring after a match in March 1996.
He raised this question after losing to Thulani ‘Sugar Boy’ Malinga.
Nigel expressed his commitment to Caroline and insisted that this would be his last fight.
They tied the knot on September 4, 1996, but details of their wedding have not been disclosed.
Reproductive struggles and family life
Caroline and Nigel faced challenges starting a family.
She underwent IVF treatment, which was initially unsuccessful.
At one point, Nigel walked away from her when she did not get pregnant.
She has previously spoken about Nigel’s infidelity and her struggles with commitment.
In 1998, when she was 26, Caroline told the Mirror: “Whenever I think about Nigel’s affair I feel bad, even today. I can remember it like it was yesterday “
“We were living in Jersey and we had been trying to have a baby for several months. It was a very bad time in my life. I was going for IVF treatment and it had failed.
Nigel yells a lot when he doesn’t want to do something. He is of angry nature. It’s like a huge explosion and then it’s over

“This night, we were supposed to go out together and I was looking forward to it. Nigel told me at short notice that he wanted to go out on his own.
“What I didn’t know was that this was the same woman he knew and with whom he had slept, before he phoned her and arranged to meet her at a hotel.

“He spent the night with her. It was just before Christmas. He told me three months later – right before his fight against Sugar Boy Malinga.
“I felt very sick. For many years, I felt as if she would have abandoned me immediately, but I stayed with her because I felt she needed me. I was her closest friend.”
reconciliation and children
However, they reconciled and their persistence eventually paid off.
Caroline and Nigel welcomed twins, Connor and his sister India, into their family soon after their wedding on September 28, 1996.
The couple later had another son, Harley, who became a professional boxer like his older brother and father – he turned professional in 2017.
Nigel also had four children from his first marriage: Sade, René, Dominique and Nigel.
Role in Nigel’s career
Caroline played an important role throughout Nigel’s boxing career.
She was often the person his managers and agents went to when they needed Nigel to do something – she was one of the few people who could communicate effectively with him.
She said: “He needed someone he could trust. I’m the only person who stood up for him.”
“Their agents and managers would call me and ask me to tell them what to do.
“Nigel yells a lot when he doesn’t want to do something. He’s hot-headed. It’s like one big flare-up and then it’s over.”
Current Relationship
As of October 2024, Caroline and Nigel’s relationship appears to be on solid ground.
Nigel has accepted his past mistakes and taken steps to prove his commitment to Caroline.
Despite being part of a high-profile boxing family, Caroline has maintained a relatively private life.
It appears his focus is on supporting his family, including Conor, in his boxing career.
