Rory McIlroy was left dejected after missing out on the US Open title.
The 35-year-old came terrifyingly close to ending his 10-year wait for a major title on Sunday.
However, he made three bogeys with five holes remaining and lost his two-shot lead over Bryson DeChambeau.
McIlroy gave his opponent an unexpected lease of life after missing a par putt from four feet on the final hole.

And DeChambeau grabbed the opportunity with both hands and won the title.
McIlroy watched in disappointment as the American finished his final shot and headed straight to the locker room.
Upon returning inside he appeared utterly dejected and on the verge of tears as he stood silently beside his caddie.
McIlroy then immediately left Pinehurst Resort and was unable to attend the final ceremony.
He also refused to talk to the media.
DeChambeau expressed sympathy for McIlroy after he won the title.

He said: “I would never want him to miss that putt.
“Rory will win many more major championships. There’s no doubt about that. I think his passion will only continue to grow.”
