Bryson DeChambeau has lifted the lid on his unconventional methods after being asked about his “salty balls”.
The 30-year-old LIV golf star is in scintillating form at the US Open this week.

After topping the leaderboard at Pinehurst, the American was in a rather playful mood during his press conference.
After a stellar round in which DeChambeau did himself proud, he was asked why he soaks his golf balls in salt.
After receiving the question, the 2020 US Open winner laughed and said: “Thanks for the salty balls question.”
He then added: “Yeah, I put my golf balls in Epsom salt.
“I’m very lucky that my manager Connor does that now. I don’t have to do it. But basically we float the golf ball in the solution to make sure the golf ball doesn’t go out of balance.

“There’s always going to be some error, especially when it’s circular and has holes on the edges. You can’t get it exactly right in the middle.
“So what I’m doing is finding out how imbalanced it is, how unbalanced it is.

“The heavy slide floats downwards, and then we put a point on top to make sure it always rolls back on itself.
“It kind of works like a mudboard. If there’s too much weight on one side, you can put it 90 degrees where the mud is on the right or the mud is on the left.
“I’m referring to the soil for the weight there. It will fly differently and inconsistently.
“For most of the golf balls we get, it’s not a big deal.
“I just try to be as accurate as possible, and that’s another step I take to make sure my golf ball flies as straight as possible, because I’m not that good at hitting it that straight.”
DeChambeau, aiming to win his second major title, was atop the leaderboard with a three-shot lead heading into the final day of play.
