Sami Hamed hopes to succeed as he reaches the pinnacle of his boxing career, having been inspired to take up the sport by following in the footsteps of his legendary father.

The 26-year-old is the eldest son of British boxer Naseem Hamed – who brought fame to the sport in the 1990s and early 2000s.

But it seems the Hamid name will remain in the game for many years to come, through Naz’s sons Adam and Sami.

Adam is already 1-0 and has signed with Hall of Fame promoter Frank Warren — who helped his father become a superstar decades ago.

While older brother Sami has signed a deal with Misfits Boxing, home of celebrity-style crossover bouts.

He will make his debut on the undercard of YouTuber-turned-boxer KSI in Dublin on August 31, and will do so as the son of a legend.

“It’s in my heart and it’s in my DNA,” Sami told SunSport.

“Obviously, everybody wants to be like their dad, but when your dad is beating everybody it’s on another level.

“I just want to go out there, I want to show my dad that listen, I can put up a good fight and put on a great performance.

“I just want to make my parents proud.”

Sami Hamed: I’m not here to please anyone

Sami Hamed is the latest son of a British boxing legend to attempt to make his own way in the sport.

He is following in the footsteps of Chris Eubank Jr, Conor Benn and Campbell Hatton.

But Hamid doesn’t want to get caught up in the inevitable comparisons that come his way.

He added: “I’m very lucky, because my attitude to the whole matter is that I don’t care what anybody thinks. I’m not here to please anybody.”

“Honestly, for the people who spend their hard-earned money to come and watch me fight, I obviously want to put on a good show for them.

“But being my father, me and my brother can never be Prince Naseem Hamed, nobody can ever be like that and the sooner people understand that the better it will be.”

Neither Sami nor Adam had ever pursued an amateur boxing career or ever considered entering the family boxing business.

Adam was once a talented tennis player, while Sami has her eyes set on the big screen – but she’s still not ready for it.

“We played tennis, football, all these sports.

“From the time I was 12 till I was 15, 16, I wanted to be an actor. I had my heart set on it, I really wanted to be on the big screen.

“I still think I have the ability to do it. I could spend a couple of years in boxing and even if I continue to fight, maybe go to Hollywood and fulfill my dream in that sense.”

Prince Naz is thought to have earned a fortune of more than £40million during his award-winning career – but his sons have had to earn their own cash.

I just want to make my parents proud.

Sami said: “Before that I’d been working in retail for about two and a half years, before that I worked at Creams ice cream parlour when I was about 17 or 18, when I left college.

“Now for me, it really feels like I’m doing something bigger for myself and I’m doing something I can love.”

Sami believes that the work-ethic his famous father instilled in him at a young age will help him excel in boxing.

He said, “My father is a Yemeni, whether you have a lot of money or not, he will raise you like a Yemeni.”

“They have always shown me that they will never give me anything or let me fulfill my needs.

“He’s always going to make me work for my money, and honestly, that’s the reason I’m here.

“I would never have done this job if I didn’t have the jobs I had in the past.

“I now feel like this is a huge opportunity for me.”

Sami, who will be competing in his first bout against blogger Jesse Clark, has signed a one-year deal with Misfits and is looking to compete at least five times over the next 12 months.
