Billy Horschel took the lead after the third round of the 152nd British Open. In adverse weather conditions with occasional heavy rain, the American shot 69 on the par-71 course on Saturday to take the lead with a total of four shots under par. Six players are tied for second behind the 37-year-old.
“This round of the Open Championship is the best round I’ve ever played in a major,” Horschel said. Sky Sports. “This will be the biggest win of my career. I have won a lot of great events, but this win will top them all.”
Just one shot behind Horschel in the group is Tokyo Olympic champion Xander Schauffele (USA). Dominator Scottie Scheffler (-2/USA) will also likely play a role in the battle for victory in the final laps on Sunday as he currently sits in eighth place.

Marcel Siem also could not continue his good performance in the first two laps. The German also shot 77 and dropped to joint 62nd place with eight shots under par. Things improved for Alex Cejka, who needed 72 strokes for 18 holes and is now the best German in joint 51st place (+6).
