Danny Simpson has agreed to put his Premier League winner’s medal on the line in his first boxing bout.
The former defender – who was part of the Leicester side that beat odds of 5,000-1 to win the title – will face YouTuber Danny Aarons.
This is the first time Simpson or any other football star has stepped into the Misfits boxing ring.
And the stakes have been raised further after Tottenham fan Aarons placed a bet ahead of Saturday’s clash.
The gamer agreed to put up the gold plague he received after earning 1 million subscribers on YouTube.
In return he will receive the gold medal earned by Simpson in 2016.
“It means everything to me. It means even more now that I have got a Premier League medal,” said Arenas.
“I can’t believe he said yes to that. You can’t back out from that, the handshake is on camera.”
“So if I didn’t want to win before, I want to win now.”
Simpson, whose side the Foxes beat Spurs to win the title, replied: “I don’t mind shaking hands, because it’s not going to happen.
“You’re only saying that because this is the closest time Spurs will get to winning a medal.”
Arenas replied: “One hundred per cent, one million per cent. I’ll win a Premier League medal before my club, I want it. I’ll take it.”
The Simpsons joked: “You surprised me with that, but it’s not going to happen.”
