This is his first season as a regular driver!
David Beckmann (24), along with defending champion Pascal Wehrlein (30) and DS Penske pilot Maximilian Günther (27), is one of three German pilots. 11th Formula E seasonA few days before the start of the season in São Paulo, the Porsche customer team of Cupra Cerro Race confirmed the German as the regular driver! In 2021 he already worked as a test and reserve driver for Andretti and Porsche and in 2023 he participated in the Jakarta E-Prix.
The Iserlohn native started his career in karting and celebrated his first successes at the age of 12! In 2012 he won the DMV Karting Championship and the European Bridgestone Cup in his home country. The following year he won the German Junior Kart Championship, ahead of Mick Schumacher.
Since 2021 he competes in FIA Formula 2. In the 2023 season of the Endurance World Championship, Beckmann competed in two races for the Hertz–Zota team. In 2022, at the beginning of the GEN3 era, the 24-year-old joined the TAG Heuer Porsche Team as an official test and reserve driver. He split this role between the Porsche factory team and the Andretti customer team.
Beckmann is now living his Porsche dream at Kiro Race Company. The American racing team, based in Silverstone, UK, uses Porsche engines from last season. Pascal Wehrlein wins the World Championship!
However, the team got off to a bit of a mixed start in Sao Paulo. Cupra Kiro was considered a secret favorite for the eleventh Formula E season – but could not be confirmed at the season opener. Beckman was out of the race after contact with the wall – his teammate Dan Ticktum secured at least some World Championship points by finishing 8th.

Wehrlein’s eventful career “That day I knew: I wanted to be a racing driver”
Beckmann after the race: “Our race was a bit unfortunate today, but our pace was good.”
“We started in 20th place and were very close in points throughout the race. In the beginning I had a contact, which is why my car drove a little differently later on. After the red flag I touched the wall and that ruined my race.”
And further: “But in the end I am very satisfied. I learned a lot this weekend, we had good pace and I think we showed good potential. “Next time we need more luck and better ability to avoid chaos early on.”

On January 11th we will go to Mexico City for the second race of the season. German broadcaster DF1 shows all 16 Formula E races and qualifying sessions on free TV and in live stream on df1.de.
