Armchair golf fans enjoyed the misty view from rain-hit Royal Troon.
Observers compared TV coverage of the Open’s third day to “looking through a bathroom window”.
There was a mix of praise from fans for the players and spectators amid the torrential rain, as well as criticism of the blurred view on their screens.
and spectators begged camera operators to wipe the stains off the lenses.
Some fans even believe that towels will solve the problem of cameras becoming like “untreated windshields.”
Ireland’s Shane Lowry and England star Daniel Brown fought back to stay on top despite the poor weather.
But some viewers were left stunned by the murky, drizzly footage shown on TV.

One posted: “Hey Open Camera guys: it often rains in Scotland. Wipe the rain off the lens so we can see. How many years have you been doing this?”
Another asked: “Can someone please get some towels for these tower cameras?”
But a third observer suggested something a little more high-tech.

He said: “Hey NBC, can you please suggest the camera crew at The Open put RainX on all the camera lenses!!? No, seriously, it’s like an untreated windshield and it’s just foggy, with water on the lenses.”
A fourth fan commented: “The rain at the Open is so intense it feels like watching every shot from a bathroom window. Thank god for HD TV packages.”
Perhaps, in this case, HD means heavy rain…
However, one viewer congratulated himself on his choice of viewing location.
He posted: “Man I’m so happy to be lying in bed watching The Open Championship as it rains at Royal Troon.”
But he sympathized with the wind-hit spectators at the coastal links course on the Firth of Clyde in Ayrshire, Scotland.

From his comfort zone inside, the onlooker wrote: “Looks miserable out there. Congratulations to those out there who are coping with the situation.”
