Andy Murray is the new coach of Novak Djokovic. He announced on 23 November that Scott would look after Joker until at least the Australian Open. After Boris Becker and Goran Ivanisevic, the Serb has brought the next major name on board.
Antonym sky sports Djokovic has now explained how he was able to bring his long-time rival on board: “I thought about whether I needed a coach for about six months and who that could be. As well as the coach Also about the profile.” And further: “I have found that the ideal coach for me would be someone who has the same experience as me, in the best case, a former Grand Slam winner. Number one.”
Murray, who was born on 15 May 1987 and was exactly one week older than Djokovic, had reached nine Grand Slam finals in his career and won three majors. He ended his career after the 2024 Olympic Games; Over the years he had to battle repeated injuries.
After Murray’s name came up, Djokovic simply called him: “I surprised him, he didn’t expect it,” Djokovic revealed. “We were on the same wavelength very quickly and he agreed after a few days.” This collaboration “is a surprise even for me. But it’s exciting for tennis.”
