The Ryder Cup’s record points scorer could make a surprise comeback at the event.
But he will be eligible for selection only if he pays a hefty fine of £1.5 million.
The 2023 edition was thrown into disarray when the European Tour removed Henrik Stenson as Europe captain after his involvement in the controversial LIV Golf Tour.
It also excluded several Ryder Cup stars who had joined the Saudi-backed breakaway group – including Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood and Sergio Garcia.
But now European captain Luke Donald – who has opted to remain at next year’s tournament at Bethpage Black after leading his team to a stunning victory in Rome last year – has opened the door for Garcia to return.
García resigned his DP World Tour membership in May 2023, disqualifying him from competing in the Marco Simone.
The 2017 Masters winner now faces £1.5m in unpaid fines to join LIV.
But Donald confirmed he has spoken with the Spaniard about getting his DP World Tour card back and being available for New York 2025.
“Obviously he has resigned his membership but we have had some conversations,” English said.
“He is considering re-joining. He has to follow all the rules and regulations like everyone else, and if he does that, he will be eligible to participate in the Ryder Cup.

“We spoke on the phone a couple of weeks ago. He’s definitely very interested in doing this.
“He understands everything involved and it’s up to him to decide whether he’s ready to do all that. But of course we’ve had that discussion, yes.”

García has played in ten Ryder Cups, winning six, and made his debut as a rookie in 1999 as the tournament’s youngest player at the age of 19 years and 258 days.
From their 45 matches played, they have scored a total of 28½ points with 25 wins and 13 losses with seven ties.
And he may be looking to boost his personal numbers in the next clash with the United States.
However, Garcia is not the only LIV rebel who could represent Europe next autumn.
Rome heroes Tyrrell Hatton and Jon Rahm both joined LIV Golf after the last Ryder Cup – Rahm took the top spot on the 2024 individual points list this year, ahead of Joaquin Neiman, Garcia and Hatton.
But the pair still have DP World Tour membership and could be selected if they are successful in their appeal over unpaid fines.

However, DP World Tour chief executive Guy Kinnings suggested the process could not be finished until after the Ryder Cup.
On the US team, Brooks Koepka will likely join big-hitting Bryson DeChambeau for Keegan Bradley, who could become the first player-captain at the Ryder Cup since Arnold Palmer in 1963.
