Former world champion Paulie Malignaggi fears Jake Paul’s controversial fight with Mike Tyson could result in calls for a ban on boxing.

And former welterweight champion Malignaggi is among those fearing the worst ahead of the Netflix bout.
he told Canada Casino“It’s not good to get hit to the head from younger, stronger guys at Mike’s age. When you’re young, you can absorb the blows better.
“When you get older, your body isn’t prepared for that kind of damage. Things can go horribly wrong.
“If something like this happens, people will demand a ban on this sport. Personally, I don’t think his fight with Jake Paul should happen.
“By then he will be 58 years old. 58 is 58. We live in a generation that doesn’t understand that old age is a real thing.
“You can show highlights of Mike from the ’80s, but the guy that walks into the ring won’t be the same Mike Tyson.”
Paul has a 10-1 record and is only tarnished by a 2023-point loss to Tyson Fury’s brother Tommy, 25.

“After boxing for four years, I won the US national championship, so Jake is no novice.
“He’s strong and young. It’s a serious risk to beat someone Tyson’s age. Tyson couldn’t handle punches well at 36, even more so now.
“If you hit an old man, it affects him. Imagine what would happen to him if he got hit by a strong man like Jake. I don’t want to know.”
