Fury went through a similar experience when he was set to fight northern rival David Price a decade ago.
But that huge fight fell by the wayside – so Fury won’t let lightning strike again when it comes to fighting AJ.
he adds tnt sports: “At the end of the day, it would be a travesty if we didn’t fight.
“It doesn’t matter if he loses 20 more matches, if he doesn’t win another match and he has 10 years out of the game, it doesn’t matter.
“We have to fight. I gave an interview recently and I said, ‘Look, it doesn’t matter if we’re 50, we have to fight.
“I’ve already lost a big fight with David Price, he was the British hope at one time and he was becoming very good.

Fury, 36, is set to face Joshua, 34, next year, with the doubleheader being put together behind the scenes from Saudi Arabia to London.

But AJ seems to have understood this after his knockout loss to 27-year-old Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium.
Fury, meanwhile, is back in training for the title fight after facing 37-year-old Oleksandr Usyk on December 21 after losing the undisputed title in May.
He said: “I’m ready to rock and roll. I don’t need a 12-week camp. I’ve been boxing all my life.
“I’m ready to go tonight, tomorrow, next weekend. Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, it doesn’t matter.
“I can come into the ring at 30 stone and throw 15 rounds. I’m a natural at it, do you know what I mean?
“I just need five or six weeks of sparring, good sparring this time.”
