Sam Burns’ driver failed to perform well in the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
The 28-year-old American boxer was competing on the third day but went crazy after a mistimed shot in the jungle.
He disgustedly threw the guilty stick to the ground, which meant that they both lost their heads.
Burns made double bogey on the ninth hole to fall four shots behind leader Hideki Matsuyama.
To add insult to injury, he had to play the back nine without his driver.
The golfer made three birdies and as many bogeys to finish at ten under.
Fans took to social media to express their views.

One wrote: “Anger control won’t hurt.”
Another said: “What a horrible move. How many crores are at stake in the playoffs?”
A third joked: “If I did that, I’d play 17 holes without a driver.”
