The former Feyenoord head coach admitted that ‘most of my time’ will be dedicated to coaching his team at Anfield.
“So, work together with the team, build the team in the best way possible, and when it comes to transfers Richard and I will work together, but it’s not just the two of us – there’s a big backroom staff involved as well,” The Dutchman told liverpoolfc.com,
“I think for me this is the way I’ve always worked and it’s the ideal way for me to work because I can use it I will spend most of my time working with the team and the time that remains will probably be for family and talking with Richard about how we can strengthen the team. But we already have a very strong team.”
This comes following an agreed change to the scope of the manager’s role, which is now defined as the ‘head coach’ position.

What do Liverpool need in terms of players coming in?
Ideally, a new centre-half, a holding midfielder and a new wideman.
Early indications are that we may be looking at a move to tick two of these, given the links with players such as Lenny Yoro (Lille) and Crisencio Somerville (Leeds United) and Michael Olise (Crystal Palace).
It could be argued that a holding midfield signing is a low priority given Wataru Endo’s respectable performances in 2023/24. Not to mention the extremely exciting prospect coming our way in the form of Stefan Bajcetic.
With Luis Diaz struggling to produce a serious goal return and Mo Salah’s suitability on the right flank being questioned, there is, nevertheless, ample justification to strengthen the forward line.
