Oban Elliott is ready to make a serious assault on the elite of the welterweight division next year.
‘The Welsh Gangster’ went 3-0 in his first year in MMA’s top promotion, earning his spot via Dana White’s Contender Series last August.
Elliott capped the best year of his career by knocking out Basil Hafez in the third round at UFC 309 at Madison Square Garden last month.
But just last week, 2024 got even better for the Shore mixed martial arts standout.
Elliott, 25, was awarded a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt by UK MMA pioneer Richard Shore.
And to say that the Merthyr Tydfil ruler was proud of this achievement would be an understatement.
The former Cage Warriors veteran wrote on X: “The BJJ brown belt is no joke.
“My teammates voted me Fighter of the Year, and my coaches gave me Knockout of the Year for my fight at MSG Brutha!
“At the end of the year awards at my gym, the most prestigious awards ceremony on the planet, 2024 will live forever, brutha.”
Elliott is on track to return to the cage in March and be a contender for his fourth consecutive pay-per-view fight. ufc 313 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

And he already has an opponent in mind for his next fight – inaugural BMF titleholder Jorge Masvidal.
Elliott is publicly campaigning to be the one to welcome the fan favorite into the Octagon next Year.
He wrote earlier this month: “There is no long-haired man walking the planet that I need to worry about, brutha.
,miami it is! @gamebreadfighter.”
After watching hero Chael Sonnen defeat Colby Covington in the final fight of 2024 last weekend, he doubled his desire to lose to Masvidal.
He wrote on X: “A brilliant game from us at the weekend. Chayal in the corner for Colby just to p**t Masvidal out.
“Trouble him so much that he accepts Chael’s challenge.
“George knows the only way to reach Chael is through me.
“So: me vs @gamebreadfighter in miami you are welcome.”
Elliott has long believed that he will one day wear UFC gold around his waist and that “the sky’s the limit” for what he can accomplish in the promotion.
In his UFC 309 post-fight press conference he said: “I’m just going to keep going and keep going. I’m going to get better every fight.
“Every time you take that walk, lose weight, you get better as a man. I fought a good man out there.
