Happy Gilmore – not one – is one of the major names in qualifying for the US Open.
A freshman named Landon Gilmore goes under the name Happy and is running at the footsteps of the prestigious Adam Sandler character.
Gilmore made headlines for his Kuki name in 2023 after making a commitment to the ball state.
He even received the support of Hollywood actor Sandler who posted his support on social media.
Sandler wrote: “Go happy them. Pull for you.”
Ball state golf coach Mike Flake has also given his support for Gilmore and has described him as one of the best in the US.
He said: “The enthusiasm and energy around our program is clear.
“We are not only getting an elite junior player, but we are adding a great youth to the mix.
“He has deployed himself as one of the country’s best and most recognizable junior golfars, and has been a tournament-testing of success at Indiana and national level.”
He started going to the name of Happy at the age of nine after winning a long-drive competition in the Pepsi Little People’s Tournament in Illinois.

He entered the tournament next year as happy.
Gilmore is not the only major name that will aim to translate the turf in Okmont.
Former Dallas Cowboy Quarterback Tony Romeo is also participating.
The 44 -year -old retired from NFL in 2017 and was issued by Cowboy at his request.
He is not a stranger for golf who was played with Tiger Woods as he won the American Century Championship a year after retiring.
Woods has also described Romeo as a “Best Celebrity Golfer”, which he has played with former MLB star John Smoltz.
Other American sports stars competing in qualifying include MLB Free Agent Aaron Hicks, New York Rangers Ace Jetty Miller and Danny Woodhead are running back a former NFL.
The qualifying for the US Open will take place in 43 states, Canada and Mexico and end on 19 May.
