John Daly may have enjoyed the finest moment of his golfing career at St Andrews.
But the beer-drinking, burger-eating cult hero has revealed the Old Course is not what he considers to be Scotland’s best golf course.
The 58-year-old won two major titles, the 1991 P.G.A. Championships and The Open at St Andrews four years later in 1995.
Daly still competes in the event because he is exempt until he is 60 years old.
He missed the cut at Hoylake last year but Hanging out at Hooters After the tournament is over.

Just 35 minutes from the Ayrshire coast is Trump Turnberry, home to the famous Ailsa course.
This is the venue for the historic duel between Tom Watson and Jack Nicholas, when the two legends battled it out for the Claret Jug in the Scottish sunshine.
Daly says the famous Ailsa course is the best in Scotland – even though it was officially dropped from the Open rota three years ago.
Despite its lofty status, the R&A removed it from its roster due to the resort’s connection to Donald Trump and his actions in the wake of the 2021 Capitol riots.

He said: “I went out and tried to play a bit, this place is amazing.”
“I think it’s the best golf course in Scotland.
“St Andrews is my baby, but I think I’ve found my new baby. We’ve got the 18th green right here, this thing is unreal.
“I want to thank Mr. Trump and all the staff here for the great service they have provided.”

Daly is on the entry list for the PGA Seniors Championship but is not certain to play because of a knee injury.
But when asked by a fan about his participation, he said, “I will try.”
Daly is also among the names taking part in the Senior Open at Carnoustie this week.
Colin Montgomerie, Padraig Harrington and Bernhard Langer will be on the pitch when the tournament kicks off tomorrow.

But again, his participation is in doubt because of a knee problem.
Daly is scheduled to take the field at 12.15pm at the Angus Links venue alongside Australian Scott Hend and Welshman Stephen Dodd.
