Slumbers said: “Until we are confident that any coverage at Turnberry will be about golf, the golf course and the championship, we will not return any of our championships there.”
Speaking to Bunkered magazine last year, Trump Organization executive vice president Eric Trump insisted that the R&A’s situation would eventually change.
He said: “Turnberry is by far regarded as the best course on the rota. That’s just the way it is. Everyone will tell you that.
“If the decision is political, as it appears to be, there’s nothing I can do about it.
“What I can do is build the best golf courses in the world Earth. It always ranks in the top five anywhere in the world. It’s been rated No. 1 several times. That’s the only thing I can control.
“When the tournament comes and they want to do it, it will be fantastic. We will be there with open arms. We Love to do.”
It remains to be seen whether the latest course changes will encourage the R&A to reconsider the Open Championship.
