Jake Paul has been given an October 16 court date for Eddie Hearn’s $100 million defamation lawsuit.
The YouTube star turned boxer has had his motion to dismiss his £75million case rejected by a New York judge.
This comes as the 27-year-old prepares to face 58-year-old legend Mike Tyson in a professional bout on November 15.
Promoter Hearn and Matchroom Boxing filed a lawsuit against Paul in September 2022 over comments made by the American about a fight judge.
Hearn was accused of paying Glenn Feldman to score points in Katie Taylor’s favor against Amanda Serrano and Anthony Joshua in her rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.
Serrano was on the MVP (Most Valuable Promotions) team, which Paul co-founded with Nakis Biederian in 2021.
A court judge has rejected Paul’s motion to dismiss the defamation case.
The trial is now to proceed, starting with a court date in just over a fortnight.
Hearn is suing for more than $100 million (£75 million) in damages. Meanwhile, Paul is also preparing for a possible attack from Tyson in the lead-up to next month’s controversial bout.
The age difference of 31 years has raised questions.
And Paul, who has a 10-1 record, warned The Baddest Man on the Planet that he would be in for a shock if he tried to end the competition early.
he told daily Mail: “I can definitely see him trying (for an early knockout), but he’ll find out pretty quickly that I have a lot of power, too.”
But in a promo video, Tyson’s team claimed the former world champion was preparing to throw “not just one bomb” but “missile after missile.”
He added: “If the fight happened today, Jake Paul would be over.”
