The first fight was epic – and the rematch promises to be just as delicious.
Oleksandr Usyk became the first undisputed world heavyweight champion in 24 years when he handed Tyson Fury his first professional defeat in May.
And when the pair head back to Riyadh on December 21 this year, there will be some Scottish interest to speak of.
That’s because Lee McGregor has been selected to face Isaac Lowe on the star-studded Saudi undercard show,
this is one fight Joe was due to take on the WBO European featherweight belt last December – but the fight was postponed after McGregor suffered a muscle injury.
But the 27-year-old from Edinburgh can’t wait for what will be one of the biggest fights of his life so far.
As soon as the fight was announced last night, he wrote on X: “It can’t get any bigger than this.
“I worked my whole life for these nights
“See you all on December 21st.”
Surname lightningMcGregor lost to Mexican Eric Robles for the IBO super bantamweight title at the Meadowbank Sports Center last July.
The defeat, by unanimous decision after 12 rounds in Edinburgh, was the first defeat of McGregor’s career.
Since then he has won consecutive bouts against George Moya and Deaner Polo.
Morecambe-based Lowe is a close friend of Fury, having attended many of his battles win On more points than Hasibullah Ahmadi on the previous Fury-Usyk bill.
Elsewhere on the Riyadh card, 19-year-old Moses Itauma, who has been promoted as a Future The world heavyweight champion will take on Australia’s Demsey McKenna, while 25-year-old Johnny Fisher will take on compatriot Dave Allen – also at heavyweight.
