The 30-year-old Fury got off to a great start and floored his German opponent with a number of body shots.

Then as the bell rang, he cornered Thun and landed a powerful right hook.

The situation was much the same in the second round as Fury remained the aggressor – but the man nicknamed “Hurricane” stood strong and began to land his combinations.

Hughey landed two good uppercuts and a strong right hand in the third round, while Thun continued to take the punches well.

Fury then took control and began to turn it on in the fourth as persistent body shorts finally began to take their toll and the 6ft 8in giant was defeated.

In the fifth of the eight-round bout, Thun fought back, but received a response from the British with more strong body shots.

His one-two in the sixth round pushed Thun to the ropes, allowing him to avoid another attack.

The boxer needed oxygen in the ring after being knocked out in the first round by his opponent, who took the fight with just 24 hours’ notice.

Fury then smelled blood and tried to go for the knockout in the seventh – but despite twisting his knees, Thun survived.

In the end he went for the knockout but had to settle for a victory via decision.

Fury won 78–76 – yet the score did not reflect his true dominance.

How rich are the Furies?

Tyson and Paris Fury have an estimated net worth of over £70 million.

The bulk of this comes from Tyson’s heavyweight boxing salaries, with his recent clash with Oleksandr Usyk earning £80million.

Experts believe he has a whopping £300million in the bank thanks to the Fury family’s Netflix show and five book deals.

But Paris, a mother of seven, proved she can take on the world after resigning from Tyson’s company in August 2022 to focus on her own projects.

In just one year of flying solo, she earned £180,000 from book and PR deals and social media ads.

The couple live in a £1.7 million mansion in Morecambe, Lancashire with their seven children.
