England’s Matt Wallace wept after ending their futile six-year winless streak.
The 34-year-old golf star recorded his first DP World Tour win since 2018 at the Omega European Masters.

Wallace began with a four-shot lead, but Alfredo Garcia-Heredia’s birdie on the last hole moved him to par at 11 under, forcing a playoff on the 18th tee at Crans-sur-Sierre.
The Englishman’s approach shot landed eight feet from the hole, putting the pressure on the 42-year-old Garcia-Heredia, who missed his 18-foot birdie attempt.
As his putt fell into the hole, ensuring his victory, the star player’s face visibly lit up with pride.
And Wallace apologised for crying while speaking to Sky Sports as he began to realise what winning the tournament meant.
He added: “That was a tough day man. That’s a tough day.”
“I thought I played well – I’m sorry about your tears!”
When he regained composure he said, “I am happy, I am happy.”
“It was good. Alfredo and Beef (Johnson) played great, it wasn’t easy.

“I felt like a score was settled and I couldn’t do anything.
“I kept trying, kept trying. Alfredo did what he had to do in the end.”
“When we went in I said to him, ‘Great game.’ And when you need to make a birdie at the last point it’s very easy, you know. And that’s what I did.”
