Eddie Hearn has rejected suggestions that Saudi Arabian bigwig Turki Al-Shaikh could fire him after he was warned he could be sacked.

But Matchroom Boxing’s Hearn says promoters like him and Frank Warren are still essential to the sport and Alalshikh Future Plans.

He replied: “I think that’s a bit harsh.

Boxing’s top promoters are in talks with Alalshikh for a blockbuster league, although Hearn says it will take “a lot of work” to make it a success.
