Super heavyweight Delicious Orie’s Olympic dream was destroyed by the latest surprise decision at the North Paris Arena.

The 27-year-old Team GB boxer lost the bout 3-2 on three of the five judges’ scorecards, while the other two were 3-2 in his favour.

Fans were left stunned after Ori’s narrow defeat.

One wrote on social media: “Very bad decision. Delicious Ori was robbed!”

While another fumed: “Delicious Ori has been robbed against Davit Chaloyan. This is a very shameful thing.”

A third fumed: “This is absolutely disgusting. Team GB should lodge a complaint. There’s absolutely no way Delicious Ori lost that fight.”

And another said: “Delicious Ori did not lose that battle. What a robbery.”

Orie was ranked second in the super heavyweight category and was expected to win a medal in Paris.

The Wolverhampton star dominated the contest with his left jab and appeared to land all the important blows.

But the judges were watching a different bout from the crowd and surprisingly gave the score 3-2 in favour of the Armenian, leaving Orie stunned and crying in shock and disappointment as he was carried away completely broken.

“For the past eight years, I have always dreamt of winning a gold medal at the Olympic Games,” he said.

“Now it has been taken away from me.

“It could be because of me, it could be because of the judges. That’s what happened.

“But I feel I have let myself and my family down.”

Orie followed team-mates Charlie Davison and Rosie Eccles in the first round, with Patrick Brown also bowing out, leaving GB just two games away from a first-round exit.

He said: “I can’t believe it, because I’m sure I’ve done quite a few.”

“It’s too early for me to say it’s unfair, although I feel I’ve been treated very badly, and Charlie and Rosie were treated the same way. But it does cause bitterness.”
