Preston police wrote on the X: “Have you seen Scott Fitzgerald?

“Fitzgerald, 32, is wanted on a charge of causing hurt with intent. He is 5ft 9in tall, of muscular build and has short, dark brown, wavy hair.

“Fitzgerald has ties to Preston.”

He added: “If you see Fitzgerald, please do not approach him, and call 999.”

“For urgent information about Fitzgerald, or if you have any information that may help us, please call 101 or email 363@lancashire.police.uk.”

Fitzgerald was planning a boxing return after being found not guilty of rape in February 2024.

He had claimed his innocence since he was first arrested in 2020.

It took less than two hours for a jury at Preston Crown Court to unanimously deliver a acquittal.

Fitzgerald said outside court: “It’s been four years of hell. But now my focus is on getting back in the ring – probably in early May.

“I’ve been training in the gym for the past three months and I’m so happy it’s all over.

“This has been a very horrific experience for me. I always knew I was innocent and the truth would eventually come out.

“Now I just have to get my boxing licence back and start working hard.”

Fitzgerald was jailed for 46 weeks after pleading guilty to GBH on the first day of his trial.

This promising amateur boxer won the gold medal in the welterweight category at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

He turned professional in 2015 and won his first title four years later when he defeated Anthony Fowler to capture the WBA International super-welterweight belt.

Fitzgerald won the British super-welterweight title in 2019 after defeating Ted Cheeseman.

His last fight was a win over Gregory Trenel in 2021 which took his record to 15-0 with 10 KOs.

Fitzgerald spent 12 days at the Sporting Chance Clinic in 2020 to overcome gambling and alcohol addictions.

He said at the time: “I am a gambling addict and an alcoholic.”

“I can tell you 500 stories that led me to this position.
