But the Montgomerie surname isn’t just famous for making history in golf.
That’s because Colin has revealed many times His grandfather helped invent Penguin Biscuits and Blue Ribbon.
This much-loved pair has been loved across the country for decades.
Penguin biscuits were invented in 1928 by William MacDonald & Sons in Glasgow.
Blue Ribbons were relaunched eight years later in Scotland by a company called Gray Dunn.
Colin’s father James carried on the legacy and also worked in the confectionery industry.
During the 1960s he was the manager of the prestigious brand Fox in Leeds.
And this resulted in the Montgomery family moving south of the border, where his father’s job also gave them the added benefit of a season ticket at Elland Road.

Monty is now a die-hard Leeds United supporter and Yorkshire is where he first started playing golf, at a club in Ilkley.
Both his parents were captains there, and they later handed over the reins of golf to him, after which he became a golf icon.
