Boxer Ginny Fuchs learned she had a badly broken thumb only after her win over Adelaida Ruiz.
The 36-year-old American won the WBC interim super-flyweight title with a split decision win over compatriot Ruiz, 35, on Saturday night.
This was despite suffering a horrific injury within the first two minutes of the 10-round bout.
Fuchs, who has won all four of her professional fights to date, discovered her broken thumb after the final bell when she took off her glove.
while talking to DAZN“I felt it in the first round, I think it was a hook,” he said.
“I thought I had grazed it pretty badly, it kept hurting throughout the fight, but I tried to ignore it.
“But when I took my glove off I thought ‘Oh damn, I broke it.’
Fuchs was rushed to hospital, photos of which he shared on his Instagram story.
His boxing manager Jorge Ruiz posted a photo of him being carried away on a stretcher.
And he wrote in the caption: “Ginny broke her thumb in the first round then fought 10 hard rounds without complaint. We didn’t find out until she took off the gloves.”

In another photo, Ginny was seen smiling with promoter Eddie Hearn and celebrating her victory despite the injury.
And she also posed for a photo of herself lying in a hospital bed while she waited for “someone to fix her thumb.”
