Jon Rahm, who faces off this Thursday 152nd British Golf Openwhich will be held at Royal Troon in Ayrshire, Scotland (United Kingdom), has indicated that he would like to continue winning in this last ‘big’ of the year. A ‘fantastic’ week for Spanish sport,
“This is arguably my favorite week in golf and, probably, Keep this era of the great Spanish game going. “It would be absolutely fantastic, in addition to all the things that would make this week or this championship incredible,” Rahm said in a press conference before the British Open, in relation to the football team’s victories at the Euro Cup and Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon.
Rahm elaborated on Sergio Garcia’s win at Valderrama: “His record in that area is absolutely impressive. I think he’s played about seventeen times and he’s been in the top-10 in fourteen or fifteen of them and won four. This is hard to do anywhere, but it is especially difficult in Valderrama. You have to play very well no matter how much you know the course because you have to give your best to achieve there. He is a very deserving champion.’ “I am very happy for him because he has been a reference for me.”
He also mentioned his chances of playing the Ryder Cup, which would require him to be a member of the DP World Tour and leave the LIV Golf Circuit and later pay a fine for his decision to compete.: “I’m still in talks with the Tour. I haven’t been able to play any tournaments and hopefully we will have to find a solution before I play at the Spanish Open. I haven’t paid yet but I don’t know when I’ll play,
On the other hand, he expressed his desire for golf to ‘fix itself’ so that he could play more often against players like Rory McIlroy or Scottie Scheffler and spoke about his feelings: “Last year, starting with the Masters, I didn’t play until the Ryder Cup because I didn’t feel at my best level. The Ryder Cup was similar to the first half of the year. The first stretch this year wasn’t the best, but I would say in Houston I felt comfortable with my swing again.”
“I was playing well, but sadly I couldn’t play the Houston tournament or the US Open. But in Nashville and last week at Valderrama I felt I was close to reaching a higher level of golf, maybe now I don’t think so much about how I’m doing it. I’m probably playing a bit more free and I want to watch the flight of the ball more often.. “I’m getting very close to what I was at the beginning of last year,” he declared.
