DANNY Simpson was there when he was offered a boxing match with Riyad Mahrez – and he doesn’t want his daughters to see it.

The 2016 Premier League winner with Leicester will face YouTuber Danny Aarons in Dublin on Saturday night.

He took part in the fight just over a month ago after KSI was forced to withdraw from the main bout due to a hand injury.

And Simpson was on a boozy holiday, culminating with Mahrez, when he received a call from Misfits Boxing chief Mams Taylor.

He told SunSport: “I had a party with my friends.

“I went to Marbella first and then I went to Ibiza and then from Ibiza I went to Riyad Mahrez’s stag do at Lake Como.

“And then I got the call. Probably after vacation it was the right time.”

Simpson had only just left his former Foxes team-mate Mahrez when he accepted the boxing offer – but the likes of Jamie Vardy have wished him all the best.

He explained: “I’m still in a WhatsApp group with all the Leicester boys, called Reunion, because it’s about ten years since we won the league.

“Everyone is just wishing well like the Wards, Andy King – Wes Morgan was trying to come but he couldn’t.

“Ben Chilwell, all the boys had to get busy with games and so on so they couldn’t get involved.

“But everybody said, listen, they said they wouldn’t do it, so good luck and enjoy it.”

Simpson has two daughters, Skye (13 years old) and Vienna (4 years old).

His eldest son Skyy knows exactly who his social media sensation rival Aarons is – but he doesn’t want anyone to see their fight.

Simpson said: “I don’t want them to see that.

“Seeing my dad fighting, you know it’s not ideal because he’s used to seeing me playing football all the time.

“Especially Sky knows Danny Aarons and the world. But they are supportive and they have told me to do my best.”

Simpson has been training under experienced coach Pat Barrett – a former British champion – for the past four weeks.

After being forced to give up alcohol and unhealthy food, the former footballer is set to have more fights in the future.

Simpson said: “I’ve loved it. It’s been tough.”

“Dieting, trying to lose more than 8/9kg in that time was tough, but I had the right people around me.

“So I keep thinking, imagine if I have a 12-week camp, and I’m not overweight, and I’m at a normal weight. Then I’ll feel even better.

“So I am looking forward to taking part in a full camp in the future and staying fit even when I am not preparing for a fight.
